Advanced riders MUST pick up a route slip prior to the ride. The route will be marked with orange arrows in the street at the turns and some straight aways.

The recreational ride will take approximately 3.25 hours including the rest stop at LAPD Olympic Station.

You MUST obey the police officer’s instructions and at no time will you be allowed to go in front of the lead motorcycle officers. Please do not crowd or follow the lead motors too closely …this ticks them off!

There will be ride marshals to help keep the group together and assist the riders. Also, SAG will have minor mechanical support as well.

Route:

Route Slips will be available on-site at the ride with detailed mileage and turns. The recreational ride is led by the LAPD; you should not need route slips. If you fall behind the rolling closure you MUST follow all traffic laws and ordinances. Your other option is to be picked up by the SAG support.

Directions:

Start/Finish Line is at Dickson Plaza on the UCLA campus in Westwood. Directions are on the Directions page of this website.

Parking:

Parking is Free for pre-registered riders. There is a tear off tab on your rider number with a “P” that will be handed to the parking lot attendants.

You may pick-up your t-shirts either before or after the ride at the ride T-Shirt pick-up table. Your t-shirt claim tag is on your ride number. Your lunch ticket is also on your ride number. Finisher medals are one per rider please, and will be handed out when you finish.

There will be event merchandise available for sale on the day of event, but we can’t guarantee that all sizes will still be available.

Please Read…there will be a test! (ok, just kidding on the test part)

Be Safe…Ride Safe…your fellow riders are depending on it.

If you see someone with a camera…smile! This is a FUN ride. We won’t post cranky pictures!!!

Ride Rules & Notes:

This is a fun ride and not a race, our goal is to take you on a tour of Los Angeles to some wonderful and unique places that you ordinarily would not see on a bicycle (or even in a car), while raising money for a worthy cause. Enjoy the ride, meet new cycling friends!

The ride passes over 65 scenic, cultural & historic sights; we truly hope you enjoy the ride.

LAPD Motorcycle Unit will be providing a rolling closure – full for recreational and only for the first 11 miles of the advanced route.

The average speed of the group will vary between 10–12 mph based on terrain for the recreational ride. The advanced ride will average between 15-18 mph based on terrain and both rides will be slower on the hills and faster on the down hills. These are averages and the speed may vary.

The LAPD motors will keep the “package” together by slowing or stopping to get slower riders caught up. DO NOT RIDE UP ON THE REAR WHEELS OF THE LEAD MOTORCYCLES!!!

Riders must stay in the group; no riders may pass the front motorcycle officers.

If you choose to go slower than the rolling closure, and fall off the back of the pack and continue on, then all traffic rules and regulations must be followed. You cannot run red lights without being in the rolling closure!

You can re-join the rolling closure after the rest stop to make it an easy, traffic-free spin back…but you may not pass the rolling closure.

Follow directions of the LAPD & Ride Marshals…please stay to the right.

There will be a SAG bus to pick up riders who cannot finish the ride due to mechanical or other reasons, with a trailer following behind to pick up your bicycles. There will also be mechanical support following the riders for minor repairs.

Local club riders have volunteered to be ride marshals and help throughout the ride. We greatly appreciate all these people & clubs for their assistance. Please be nice to them…

First Aid will be available along the route, with one roving first aid group following the ride.

There will be rest stops with food, refreshments and porta-potty facilities.

Unauthorized riders without official event ride numbers will be asked to leave the pack.

Bicycle parking will be available at Dickson Court after the ride so that you can enjoy the lunch and raffle.

We ride rain or shine.

Thank you for your support!!!

Don’t forget to thank our sponsors…and especially Volkswagen…without Volkswagen this ride would not happen!

Please thank the LAPD for helping make this ride so much fun…and safe.
